BemerkungenAnytime meteor showers are announced I go out on this upstairs terrace to look, sometimes for hours but have almost never seen anything and nothing I could swear to. This was quite different. It’s being announced as space debris and was absolutely huge. It passed through about 150° of my vision taking at a guess a minute to pass through from south to north. When I look at the range today and count out seconds it might conceivably have been as short as 20seconds but I had time to get a key and open the door and go out. The windows and door are floor to ceiling glass so it was never out of my sight. The flames were clearly visible. The tail was bright and short. At first I wondered if it was a plane on fire as the direction of travel was towards Dublin airport; but the fireball was far too big for a plane.
